Quality Management

We supply products of the highest quality.

This declaration is made by many manufacturing companies. Are there concrete actions behind it?

Operator Platform’s Quality module is a comprehensive tool that supports the entire quality control area. All fully integrated with production, logistics and maintenance.

What are the benefits of Operator Quality?

The Quality module is all you need to ensure that formal requirements are met and that the highest quality is guaranteed. It covers four basic areas:

  • Quality Control – an essential tool for the QC department.
  • SPC Statistical process control is a key advanced tool for countering and preventing poor quality issues. It provides early warning mechanisms for process irregularities.
  • Checklists allow you to implement control procedures at any stage of production. Most often used for machine start-up, cleaning, maintenance or start and finish of changeovers.
  • Sample Control makes it as efficient and intuitive as possible to take samples from production to the laboratory.

SPC - Statistical Process Control

The SPC – Statistical Process Control module, which is part of the Operator Platform, is used for the acquisition, analysis and archiving of parameters of the ongoing production process. The collected data can be correlated and presented in the form of easy-to-read graphs. The SPC module allows, among other things:

  • Collecting data from machines, PLCs or measuring systems (scales, spectrometers, sensors, etc.). Data acquisition can be done via an OPC server or a number of other available protocols.
  • The data is analyzed online against a number of static rules to catch anomalies in the process, resources used or environment.
  • The graphs showing the data have clear labeling of the current process level – normal, warning and error.
  • The SPC module cooperates with the Operator Platform‘salert system , which allows you to receive information about a threat via e-mail, for example.

The SPC module is an indispensable tool wherever we expect high quality and constant parameters of the process, environment or equipment.

What is SPC?

Statistical Process Control is a method of data analysis used in Quality Management. Its purpose is to monitor and control the production process through the use of statistical methods.

At the heart of the SPC methodology is the assumption that production processes are always associated with some level of variability – whether of the set parameters, the environment or the production product itself. The purpose of SPC is to determine the boundaries within which process variability is acceptable and beyond which corrective action should be applied.

The basic tool in SPC is process control charts, which look at carefully selected elements of the process. Data such as:

  • Geometric dimensions of the finished product, such as length, width, diameter, thickness, etc.
  • Weight and quantity – the weight of the product, number of pieces per package, capacity, etc.
  • Times – durations of various stages, activities, cycles, reactions
  • Product parameters such as color, hardness, composition, chemical or mechanical properties
  • Process and environmental parameters such as temperature, pressure, humidity, pH, etc.

Data on a selected aspect of production is recorded on process charts and then statistically analyzed to determine whether the process is within specifications and whether there are anomalies that require corrective action.

What are the benefits of using SPC on production?

Depending on what elements of the process we inspect and how we collect data, by implementing Statistical Process Control we can gain a number of significant benefits for our production:

  • Increase product quality – thanks to SPC we have the ability to efficiently identify instabilities in our processes that can have a negative impact on the quality of manufactured products. The information provided by SPC allows manufacturers to make process changes to improve product quality and minimize waste or re-work.
  • Reducing production costs – Improved quality translates directly into lower production costs – both by reducing waste, re-work and repairs, as well as costs associated with complaints or customer returns. Process optimization made possible by SPC data also reduces raw material and energy consumption.
  • Increase productivity – by identifying process instability, we can increase productivity and reduce production time.
  • Process improvement – by monitoring the process on an ongoing basis, we can easily identify those areas of the process that need to be improved or upgraded. This way we know where to spend our time and energy to get the best return on investment.
  • Increase employee engagement – by actively participating in the improvement process and taking corrective action, we increase the engagement of production employees. We show that high quality is part of our organizational culture and its analysis is based on real, reliable data.

Manufacturing Intelligence

The data collected by the Operator Platform’s Quality module can be an excellent source of information, whether it is about product quality, process stability or cost structure.

It helps our customers build their competitive advantage.

This is possible using the Manufacturing Intelligence module that is part of the Operator Platform, which includes dozens of reports, dashboards and views that present data.

More recently, it has also been available with ACIP(Advanced Continuous Improvement Process), a mechanism for finding the most urgent areas for improvement based on artificial intelligence (AI).
